Academic records include curriculum plans, course syllabi, instructional materials, program proposals, evaluations, and student handbooks for undergraduate, graduate, and continuing nursing education. Accreditation documentation includes self-studies, survey reports, correspondence, and visiting team reports associated with the South Dakota Board of Nursing, the National League for Nursing, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Other materials concern the development and review of master's and doctoral programs, nurse practitioner education, maternal and child health, gerontological nursing, and nurse anesthesia.

Outreach and clinical education records document hospital affiliations, agreements with clinical agencies, community and rural nursing experiences, continuing education, and the RN Upward Mobility Program. Grant applications, progress reports, needs assessments, and correspondence concern educational programs in Aberdeen, West River, Pierre, and other South Dakota locations, including projects involving the Indian Health Service and the Pine Ridge and Rosebud reservations. Related materials address nursing education planning, legislation, and coordination among nursing education administrators in South Dakota.

Scrapbooks, newsletters, magazines, brochures, newspaper clippings, photographs, class composites, and event programs document student organizations, faculty and staff, alumni activities, scholarships, anniversaries, lectures, and graduation, pinning, hooding, and white coat ceremonies. Photographs and other digital materials are also held on CDs, floppy disks, and a USB drive. The records document changes in nursing curricula, accreditation, clinical training, and educational outreach over time. Together, these records provide evidence of the college's role in nursing education in South Dakota and its relationships with hospitals, professional organizations, and communities throughout the state.
