          Legislative records illustrate how while Senator Daschle's interests expanded over the years from an initial set of agricultural matters to a much broader range of issues relating to the national and international political climate and economy, his focus on his constituents always remained strong. Files reflect his broad interests, including veterans, health care reform, foreign policy, and congressional ethics reform. Of particular interest are files dealing with the nomination process of Robert Bork to the Supreme Court in 1987, and files related to the Health Care Security Act of 1993. Included are congressional records, floor statements, Health Security Act of 1993 files, files related to Daschle's legislative activities and voting record, Majority Leader files, nomination files related to the process of nomination of individuals for specific appointed positions in the government, South Dakota Projects files, specific bill files and subject files.

          Congressional correspondence includes all written communications sent to or received from Members of Congress, congressional committees, staff members, individuals, and organizations whose correspondence has been forwarded by a Member of Congress for assistance in preparing a reply. Senators and representatives receive thousands of letters every month. Members use this correspondence as they make policy and budget decisions. Composed of a wide range of routine courtesy correspondence, thank-you letters, personal correspondence, and positive and negative mail.
